Spanish News Headlines
The Bank of Spain organises with the Irving Fisher Committee on Central Bank Statistics (IFC) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the European Central Bank (ECB), the conference ‘External statistics after the pandemic: addressing novel analytical challenges’. The governor of the Bank of Spain, Pablo Hernández de Cos, and Philip R. Lane, member of the Executive Committee of the ECB, intervene.
The workers of the ITV stations of the Valencian Community gathered on Friday in protest at the non-compliance with salary equalisation and announced plans to strike from today in the ITV centres of the province of Alicante that will extend to the entire Community on the 27th February, and a series of mobilisations that will take place on February 13, 20 and 21 and a strike call.
The First Section of the Alicante Provincial Court will judge a man from today accused of two crimes of sexual abuse of a minor that occurred in the municipal swimming pool in a town in the Marina Alta. The man is accused of touching the minor, who was 14 years old at the time of the events, and now faces 6 years in prison.

Things to Do Today
Postponed from Friday due to the weather, in Torrevieja, the little ones will fill calle Ramón Gallud with their costumes. The “Carnival de los Coles”, the children’s parade, the moment in which the entire school community of the town parades showing those suits and costumes that they have made themselves in the educational centres. This fun parade will begin at 5:00 p.m., from the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre, culminating in Paseo Vista Alegre, where there will be entertainment, dancing and chocolate for the little ones to enjoy.
Guardamar del Segura is celebrating Valentine’s with special promotions in many shops, bars and restaurants, a full list available form the town hall or tourist info.

Monday is market day in Elche and Santa Pola.

Traffic and Travel
Road wise, there´s nothing significant planned but remember that if you are venturing into the mountain areas, which in some cases might be less than an hour from the sunny coast, snow chains should be a consideration to avoid getting stranded.
A military exercise involving live missile firing is taking place over the Bay of Biscay from Tuesday to Thursday. Flights will therefore be diverted to avoid the area, which could result in delays, particularly on the routes to the Canary Islands, but mainland Spain could also be affected.
